As for Shark eggs - best advice - Do Not Get THEM. Your much better off with shark pups at already hatched out and feeding on their own. Greater chance of success in keeping it and raising that way.
To hatch as Shark from the egg & getting it to feed can be a really pain -if you don't know what your doing. And it often results in the death of the pup.
Minimum tank size varies according to species - but here's some examples.
- small catshark (such as the Coral Cats) - usually stays less than 2.5 ft - need at least 225-270 gallons
- Bamboos/Epaulettes (such as the Brown-banded, & White-spotted) - usually stays between 2.5-3.5 ft - need at least 315-500 gallons.
- Horns (such as the California Horn & Port Jackson's) - usually stays between 3-5' - need at least 500- 1200 gallons.
- Wobbegongs (such the Japanese & Spotted Wobbegongs) - usually stays between 3-10' - needs at least 420- 9,000 gallons.
- Smoothhounds (such as the Gray Smoothhound & Leopard) - usually stays between 3-6' - needs at least 2,000-10,000 gallons.
- Requiems (carcharhinids such as Blacktip Reef, & Bonnethead) - usually stays about 4-7' - needs at least 20,000-30,000 gallons.
- Nurse Shark - usually grows to about 8-10' - needs at least 20,000 - 30,000 gallons. |
