That reminds me I saw my LFS has a few shark eggs. They are pretty cool. They were all moving inside the brown see-through shells. I can also see their yolk too.

I have seem lepard (sp?) shark kept in a 125 for over 3 yrs., but not sure if that's their min. requirement.

I think to have a happy shark you should double the min gallons.

I can't stand the idea of a 3 foot shark in a 5 foot tank.

I've heard that sharks have a very short life span in captivity. Getting them to feed is especially hard to do.
I'd love to have a shark and a ray in a tank...COOL!

Sharks are very sensitive fish. You should be very very experienced before attempting. I don't think fish stores should sell shark eggs, almost gives the illusion that they are easy to keep.

To keep it in good health you should take blood samples, your water has to be perfect, and they really need room to swim.

Most sharks also have very sensitive skin and live rock isn't a good idea with them. That can be a problem for filtration, I would recommend and equal size sump/refugium or at least half the size of your tank. That way you can fill it with live rock, a couple hundred pounds.

That's just my 2 cents.

I'm planning on doing a shark tank eventually, I don't want anything smaller than 1000 gallons, and just for 2 cat sharks.

I suggest you go talk to a facility that has sharks, see what they have to say. I plan on taking a trip to the Shed Aquarium and seeing if they can help me out. I have ways of getting into places most people aren't allowed, should be helpful.

Sorry I keep butting in,

If you take on a shark it will become a new job for you. You will need to spend several hours a day devoted to the shark and the tank.

It's not something you want to jump into without being around them for a while.

You should give liveaquaria.com a call too, see if you can talk to someone who takes care of their sharks.

yea ill admit im not very experienced when it comes to sharks but i figured this would be a good place to get some input.. and this is something i dont plan on doing over night it will cost a ton and take a while to set up i figured it would be at the very least 15 grand to get up and running so i wouldnt be an overnight decision.. and i want the shark to be happy and have plenty of room to swim but if blood samples and things of that nature are necessary it may be over my head

Blood samples may not be necessary, but they certainly help, that way you can tell the health of the shark. Like I said very sensitive.

At least you are willing to spend the money though. 15 Grand might be a bit much, but it sounds about right.

I would do some hardcore research on the type of shark you want and see what you can come up with.

I don't know how much shark experience is on this board, it's not a common topic.

I'll be doing my own research too, if I find anything I'll post it.
