| Share Your TANG tricks! Dear friends,
I've finally decided to acquire a fish of my dreams : Hippo Tang ( Paracanthurus hepatus). Are there any special tricks & tips (on top of very good article by Craig Manoukian) in keeping this species ?! If yes, can YOU share them?
My tank:
75 gal 48" long with approx 100lbs of live rock. So far I ve got only few soft corals (green / purple button polyps, ENORMOUS leather coral and a expanding colony of green star polyps). As for the fish 3x Yellow Clown Goby, a pair of breeding Percula Clowns, Diamond Spotted Goby, Lawnmower Blenny and cleaner crew (including 2x skunk cleaner shrimps). Thank has been running for 5 months, no problems so far... _________ 75gal. Rio240 JEWEL aquarium

| Good luck! Becareful though they can be stupid fish sometimes... the first day I got mine it stuck itself to the filter lol. and then it decided it loved the trigger and has to spend every moment with it lol luckly the trigger does not seem to mind yet because it is still small. =)

| Be careful when little.
They are lousy swimmers.
Make sure all intakes, powerheads, etc are protected. _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)

| Feed it lots of greens and also supplement with meaty foods. Make sure it has lots of unobstructed swimming room as mine does not stop swimming until the lights go off, where it crams itself into a rock lol. Watch for itch as they are one of the tang at most risk with this innfestation. Great fish thou, gorjuz colouration and a beauty to have. Congrats my friend and enjoy!!

| GREAT FISH!
Mines pretty sketchy, nervous, thinks he rules the tank and loves Nori.
I ran all my fish thru hyposalinity and have had no problems with ich. Lotta work as the DT remains empty for at least 4 weeks. Maybe thats something to think about. Also feed the fish Metronidazole. |

| Note: Only draw back to a hippo I have ever had, is only fish that outgrew my tank in relatively short period of time.
Had to move to large tank at local nursery.
Neat fish while I had it...
Elected not to replace as was traumatic loss for family, and don't want to go thru again... |
