Default SF eel and volitan...quick question

I have heard that it is 100% that a SF and a volitan will eat smaller fish in the tank. My volitan is only 2" and the eel is 9". Is this absolutely correct or if the fish are well fed is it possible to have smaller fish? The only reason I ask is that I am considering taking down my 75g and have to figure out what to do with the fish in it.

the 75 currently houses:
pair of pink skunk clowns
CB angel
dartfish
yellow corris wrasse
shrimp goby
mandarin
scooter
various snails and hermits

Any advice will be greatly appreciated and followed. Thanks !

Big Carnivores eat smaller meaty object's If they can swallow it they will eat it.. Bet on it. A wild animal will never get to much to eat.. Ever seen a simple fat overfed family dog pass up a slice of bacon ?

Thanks Tangster. I pretty much knew the answer. Wishful thinking on my part. Looks like the 75 will stay as I have had it up and running for well over a year.

have you ever seen a python thats eaten a man, Snow flakes are not much different, they can eat a meal as big as their head. you can tell if they are hunting one of your fish, they will come out of their hide and eye it. Thats time to remove small fish and get bigger ones.

It's times like this that I wish I wouldn't have let my husband convince me to make my big tank aggressive. I wanted a community tank with lots of small fish and he wanted "large and in charge" fish. Works for him as I am the one doing all the maintenance on the 2 tanks. Thanks again for the advice

The lionfish will more than likely attack anything almost as big as it is if it sees fit to eat. The snowflake however has very poor eyesight and are mainly crustacean eaters. You can tell what the staple diet of an eel is by looking at it's teeth. Sharp, nasty looking things are fish eaters, blunt teeth are more for crustaceans.

But they can be a PITA to keep in the tank!
