Talking scooter blenny

Hi,

Some of you have read some of my previous threads and know that I have lost my livestock of 4 fish to ick.
Thank you once again for your concern.

Today I brought home two scooter blenny and one tiny six line wrasse.

I was afraid for the blenny since they are picky when it comes to eating.
A few hours ago i made an order on the internet for some copepods.
None of the LFS in Miami, had copepods.
I should be getting them in 2 days.

I tried pellets, but the blenny hovered by them.
Then I tried blood worms, and after a few minutes I saw one of the blenny eat one. GREAT SUCCESS.

Also, I have just made a smoothy of Silversides and Shrimp (all frozen)
I haven't tried it yet, but I think I may need a big sirrenge to place it next to the fish and not have it foul the water.

What do you guys feed your blenny, 6line wrass?

Cheers.

I have just bought a $21 work station lamp from Home Depot and I put T8 200limines neons on it. It lit up the tank well, though the light has a bit of a yellow tint. I need to go to the LFS and buy 2X48 one white one blue light to replace them.

For now, since I only have liverock and 3 fish, it works, and it was only $30, the new neons will make it exciting.

Just thought id share.

what size tank do you have? and do you have a fuge hooked up? how much LR?

thats alot of pod eater at one time , a single scooter could devour a bag of pods in a day, they key to keeping these dragonets not blennys.( these are related to mandarin ) is maintaining a large enough population of pods.

tell me your tank specs, and i can prob help you more since i had this same 3 fish for the past 1+

Our scooter blenny eats frozen brine shrimp and mysis like crazy. Our six line wrasse eats the same thing. They are both healthy and happy!

Good luck with your scooter. It's one of our favorite fish in the tank.

I had my arrow crab in a fish trap until I could take him back. I put a piece of squid in there for him. The next day there was gazillions of baby pods in there.
I bought one of those 1000 count pod packs off of ebay. It seemed like there was maybe 100 big ones in there. When you introduce them to the tank I would do it at night that way they have more of a chance to hide/multiply.

hi,

I do have a refugium, and an overhang carbon filter (one of those that comes with 55gallon tanks)
about 30lbs of live rock and 30lbs live sand, in a 55 gallon tank that has been running for about 6 months.

My refugium is a 20 gallon.
And
All three fish are 1"

thanks

I added some of my alge from the refugium to the actual tank.
I figured when I receive the two bottles of copepods in two days, I could put one in the refugium, and the second in the tank.

The copepods can go on the rock and in the alge and hide from the fish.
I read that I should do that at night when the fish are sleeping.

I thought to maybe start a small copepod farm, but I have exams this week and I don't know if I have time this week.

I took a look in my refugium and found a few large (2xpen tip) in the alge, if they reproduce, that would also help.

the six line wrasse did not make it through the night. He did not have lesions or any outside parasites that I could see. His behavior wasn't odd either, he came out a little but mostly stayed in the rocks, shy at first, normal for a new fish.

I am perplexed and sad for him.

_________

55 gallon with 20 gallon refugium, and a xl hang on carbon filter, aqua c urchin skimmer, overflow box, mag5 or mag 9 pump (cant remember), 2x48" T8 lights (from Home Depot, need to upgrade when I have money)
This is primarily a fish only tank.
30lbs live rock, 30lbs live sand.
Two hermit crabs, three nassarius snails, 2 scooter dragonnettes (blennies).
