| Question about how many tangs I can keep I have a 120 gallon reef ready tank with a 30 gallon refugium. About 120 gallons of water due to the live rock (180 lbs.) displacing 20 gallons of water. I have one 3" Purple Tang, one 4" Spotted Kole Tang, one 5" Desjardini Sailfin Tang, one 2" McCosker's Wrasse, one 2" Spotted Mandarin and five 2" Green Chromis. I am going to add a 3" Yellow Belly Tang but was wondering if I can also add an Achilles Tang. I was also thinking about adding one more wrasse, maybe the Rosy Scales Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubrisquamis)? Page 1 |

| Personally I would have said 1 or 2 less than you currently have. Could you add another tang? Yes. Would it be a good idea to add another? No. _________ Doc |

| Fairly new so don't quote me HI,
I ve read that many tangs can reach up to 10 inches or larger , do you own stock in dried sea kelp..
I did find a excellent sorce of dried sea kelp at the local oriental sea food seem they like to wrap SUSHI in dried sea kelp, got me a huge package for 8 bucks.
My skimmer chug pretty quick after a heavy feeding of algae.

That sailfin is going to get huge mine is about 9 inches now. Achilles really need a lot of swimming room. And tend to get sick if they don't

| Tangs require alot of room and can be territorial! Also, if you try to keep similar shaped species, you may run into problems with regards to one or more of them displaying a boisterous behavior.
I would shy away from the addition of another Tang for these reasons as well as they deficate frequently and alot causing possible water quality problems!
Just my opinion however!...
good luck with what ever choice you decide on. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | What kind of fish do you recommend I add? I don't want damsels, clownfish, basslets, pseudochromis, or angels. I would like to get an Eightline Fairy Wrasse, Red Velvet Wrasse or a female McCosker's Wrasse. Are Purple Firefish boring? The few I’ve seen in the pet store don’t swim very much; they seem to stay in one spot. I was considering getting two Purple Firefish but I think getting another wrasse would be a better option. |

| You've already got a sizable bioload in your tank (10 fish if I count right). Chances are that they are all going to grow (placing even more load on your system). I have 8 fish in my 110 and I'm moving up to a 210 long because I feel my tank is full. I really wouldn't recommend adding any more fish to your 120. |
