| First of all welcome to 3reef!
As for salt water fish and low salinity, how low are you talking? Their have been reports of Lion fish being kept in saltwater with a salinity of over 1.032, which is very high. The reason why it survived is because this rise in salinity happened over a long period of time. Not to say that this is good, but I think if you changed the salinity(lowered) it very gradually to a point, you may be able to keep some of the more hardy fish ie. Damsels and Groupers for instance. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | Why not keep your spotted puffers in full saltwater? They do very well in SW.

  | What salinity are you taking your puffers to? There has been some attempt to keep saltwater fish in brackish water but it seems to shorten the life span on those fish. GSPs however do well as adults in full salt. Have you ever looked into what other brackish fish can go full salt? |

| Hi
Thank you for all your replies! Im pretty late replying lol, but again, thank you!
the SG right now is approx 1.010-15. So i would be looking for something that would thrive in that range. I do plan on making them 100%marine when they get a little older/bigger, so now i am thinking i might just wait till then to add some tank mates. And perhaps by then I will know more about salt water fish! I've never seen any aggression between the two puffers, i think mostly because of the size of thier tank and they are the only ones in there! But id hate to toss another fish in there and have the puffs rip him apart. So the aggression factor is just as big as the salinity one.
Has anybody had any luck houseing thier salt water fish with puffers ? |

| Puffers can be fin nippers so just beware of keeping fish with long flowing fins. Most fish like tangs, angels, triggers and clowns will do well with puffers. I keep a false eyed puffer in my 120g tank with several other fish, just look at my sig below. |
