| Puffer might be outgrowing my tank My Dog Face puffer is about 6 to 7 inches long now and all he does is lay on the bottom of the tank. The tank is 125G 78 inches long 18 inches wide 24 inches deep. Does any one here ever trade with a LFS store I never had the need to so wanted to know what the 3reefers think.
As you can see from this picture he has been here for about two years. _________ "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing"

| Thats a really beutiful fish!!
For the first time in my life, i saw the dogface puffer blown up, filled with air, It was the size of a basketball! I didnt know if to laugh, call the owner..lol It was really cool.
Anyways, i have traded a couple of fish with my lfs. Since your fish is a show Quality fish, they should give you some good money for it! Or at least store credit.
But that is the WRONG aproach. Instead of selling it to the lfs, Just get a bigger tank!!! lol _________ *Since 12/2002 40 gal. 85 lbs live rock. 3" fiji Live sand.wet dry filter and prizm protein skimmer. 192 power compacts
*Since 10/2006 125 gal. Built in Overflows x2, 3" LS(165 lb fiji pink) 175 lb of LR, 2x 36" aquatinics T5 HO fixtures(10x39W bulbs 2 gliesman aquablue+1 gliesman actinic+2 ATI aquablue special), mag 18 return pump, PM R30fuge. AquaC EV 180 skimmer.

I used to have braquish puffers ad they were fickle, There are puffer forums maybe one of them would love to provide that one a good home.
Dog Face puffer are known to have tooth problems and they are hard on the tank filtration as you know you have done very well...

| That is one nice puffer!! If I was doing a non-coral tank I would love to have one. They have a great personality!! Correct me if im wrong, but I think a 125g is a good size tank for a puffer. If the tank is not stocked with alot of fish. Puffers are not heavy, or constant swimmers, so I would think it would do ok for alot longer in your tank. But this all this is coming from a guy that has never had one, and have only been in the salt hobbie a year, so take it for what it is, . _________ 15 Gallon Nano, Current USA 80 watt PC Light, Pengiun HOB Refug, Pair of clowns one ocellaris and one purcula!

great picture | I feed hiim frozen krill with the shells still on to help with the teeth issue but when they get to big he chews on the rocks to grind then down or break them. Its funny sometimes he looks like he got into a bar fight.
There are 8 fish in there now and some live rock he was an active swimmer taking his occational nap like a dog would but the last few days he has been doing a lot more napping. Temp in the tank is now at 78 it is usually about 81 because of the lights perhaps he got used to that warmer water. |

Now he keeps his tail fin curled over alot more. Like a dog when it tucks its taill between its legs. |

| I use to have a valentine puffer in my 47gal bow front. Best fish I ever had I had him with some coral a clam and two clown fish. He never picked at any of my coral or other fish and loved to be cleaned by my cleaner shrimp. He would always swim in and out of the rocks grazing. I loved that fish. He ended up jumping out of my tank one night and died. I had him for about 10 months to a year. I was so sad .. I bought another one but it didn’t have the same character so I took him back to the fish store.
now i want to try again. I think the smaller they are the more friendly and active they are. |
