Default pink and blue spotted goby

anybody have a pink and blue spotted goby? if so, does it sift through the sand?
and, if I get a scooter dragonet, do you think they will get along? I have a 50 gallon tank.
Thanks,
Brad

My tank has been up and running for about a month and a half-
First tank I've done-
Don't know what else to call the Goby- Books just call him a Pink and Blue Spotted Goby- Type that into google and there's several pictures of the little guy-
He's eating the frozen food I feed him, but still haven't seen him cleaning the sand-
He's been in there about 10 days-

Hey Brad,
From what I have heard the scooter is a tricky fish to keep. Maybe others can tell you otherwise. Go to www.liveaquaria.com and they should have a description of him for ya.(the goby too)

If it's a watchman, like in the pc that Fletch has posted, it is not a sandsifter. It will remove sand from an area to either build or keep its burrow clean but it will not sift sand.

As for the scooter, unless it's eating frozen/prepared food, it will most likely starve as its primary diet consists of copepods. If you don't find a way to replenish the pod population once the fish has eaten them all, it might die.

If this is the Goby you are talking about I have one of these also and he doesn't do much sand sifting in my tank either.
What you want to get is a Diamond Goby they are little sand sifting machines. I had one but I think my alga blenny killed it, as the blenny would always chase after it and then one day it was dead. I got the Pink-Spotted Shrimp Goby to replace it as I was having a hard time finding an other Diamond Goby ................................ John

That's the one!
Thanks for the info-
Over the last few days he's become much more social- Hang's out in the open sand-
He takes mouthfulls of sand in his mouth, then it falls out the back of his neck- Is this considered "sifting" and good for the sand?
or is he just eating leftover's?
Brad

That's considered sifting but don't expect to see much of it. It is good for the sand in that it keeps it stirred
