| This was my favorite fish in my FWLRO tank, but now I only have a reef tank. Will or has anyone had expeeince with the Niger Trigger harming clams or anemones? Also, what all will it harm?
Sorry for the hi-jacking, but I would SO love to get another one of these cool creatures! |

| I believe it's the safest trigger for a reef with inverts etc. but, it's still a trigger fish. I love the species and have owned very many different varieties(in FO tanks). It's just a trigger with a smaller mouth and all the teeth and power. If it is eating snails etc. it is getting a better diet than most trigger keepers feed. If you don't mind this than sure, it's a great fish and killer looking too. |

| My Niger Trigger is in my 30 hex reef tank featuring soft corals, snails, hermits ans Peppermints shrimp. All are doing well as my trigger seems to have a very mild temperment! I love him as he is very smart and enjoyable not to mention colorful and entertaining! _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | Niger triggers are pelagic triggers and don't usually go after snails or crabs at all. They are relatively peaceful too, but they will go after smaller fish, and shrimp that can be had are also fair game as these are natural prey. Corals and snails are safe though, as are clams and other non swimming inverts.
Other fairly safe triggers are from the Xanthicthys species such as Blue Jaw triggers, and crosshatch triggers. All are pelagic feeders, but keeping that in mind, small fish are going to be fair game -this means juvenile, small gobys, even tiny clowns if they are small enough and the triger is rather large.
