Just remember to add slowly over long period of time.
Don't overlook sixline wrasse. Consider in lieu of one of the other wrasses you have listed above.
Start with juveniles if you can.
Have fun.
Keep us posted.

| looks like a nice placid mix of fish for a 125gl as stated above just add em slow to not creat a mass rise in the bioload on the tank also I would add them from the more peaceful to the more tempramental to avoid the possilility of aggresion towards newbies. _________

Yep! Sixline Wrasse
Scientific Name: Pseudocheilinus hexataenia
Family: Labridae
Besides its incredible beauty, it is great fun to watch whizzing around tank, playing in heavy water current and "schooling" around with other fish.
It is a fish with wonderful characteristics.
It will eat flatworms, bristle worms, small nuisance snails (esp. those that prey on clams) and is known to act as a "cleaner" to other fish that might be afflicted with some parasite such as Ick.
I often see it carefully inspecting my larger fish, which will hold still for it to do so.
While it does carry a bad rep for being overly aggressive, mine is the most docile, mellow and fish friendly in the tank. The reason being it was the last fish to be added to the population, other then my flame wrasse, which it does not bother at all. It seems to be that they will not tolerate new fish.
He has lots of personality and fun to watch him following around my coral beauty which his best friend.
The only downside that I have heard of, is that it also loves copepods which will put it in competition with other pod eaters, such as mandarins. But my mandarin is a fat little sausage so does not seem to be a problem in my tank.
So for a cheap, colorful and playful addition to a already established fish population, consider adding a sixline wrasse.
It is the perfect reef fish.
I love mine. |

| Go slow, what are the specs on your tank, just out of curiosity?? All nitpicking aside if (when ) I get a 100+ tank one fish that I know I will have is a powder blue tang, man those things are beautiful!! Have to have a good system setup to keep one healthy, but then again there is no point in having a tank if you aren't going to try your best to make everything perfect!! Good luck!! _________ 55 gallon slowly growing reef aquarium, 85 lbs. live rock, 2 1/2" sandbed, 1 False Percula Clown, 1 Sixline Wrasse, 1 Mandarin Goby, Tetratec PF500 filter, 2 110 watt URI Super Actinic VHO actinics, 2 250 watt metal halides with Reef Optix 2 reflectors powered by Blue Wave 3 ballast, born 1/3/08 My Tank Thread My Tank Video |

| Every large tank needs a tang! lol Six lines are very nice fish, but some can be a little bold. Have fun filling your tank!

| Doesn't your tank have 2 braces at the top that divides the tank into 3 sections?? If so you will want 3 MH or you will have some nasty shadows because of the braces. Wouldn't 250 watt MH be a better fit for a 125? Maybe let one of the lighting experts chime in on that one. Also, VHO's are the way to go. Everything IMO of course!! |
