Neocirrhites armatus Ok, so I thought I'd share with you all an observation I have made on these fish. That is, that they are incredibly hardy and very strong, even tough to die.
So Wednesday night I was out cleaning my car. I decided not to work out and came in around 9PM. Well, to my surprise, my 3rd flame hawk decided to leap out of my tank and landed right in front of the tank on the floor. He was so near death, that I could barely see him still gasping for air. Just a tad bit of mouth movement. I tossed him back in. Within a minute or so, he started gasping for air rapidly and stood sideways for about 2-3 minutes to be exact.
Then he flipped gently, a couple of more minutes later, he swam and stood upright and stood there for a long while. After about an hour or so, he was breathing normally and his coloration was regained. A day later, hopping and eating like normal.
What an extremely strong fish. One thing I have noted is that he hasn't swam violently near the glass and attempted to leap out, maybe he's learned his lesson.
