| My yellow striped maroon clownfish Hi, guys, long time no see, i just bought a yellow striped maroon clownfish, that's about 3-4" long. It's very beautiful. I don't have a pic of it yet but i will try. I also will have 2 more acro's in the next couple of days. A blue and green or blue and purple. I'm ordering them from Liveaquaria.com. I haven't been on lately because of some paypal fraud. I was just wondering if i could put a blue tang, a blenny, and manderin in there with the yellow striped maroon clown. You can't have anyother clownfish in there with them because there agressive towards clowns. I was wondering if that was only clowns because the manderin is very shy and i don't want it to get hurt. |

| Re: My yellow striped maroon clownfish What size is your tank? If you have a 100gal+ you should be aok...if its less o wouldnt try it. If you want to put another clown in I would put a small juvenile in (1-2" as it wuill most likley stay a male and the larger one (if not already) will morh into a female and they will most likley pair up if they "hit it off". _________ Yes, tiny has an 11" legspan...... |

| Re: My yellow striped maroon clownfish my tank is 55 gal. what do u mean, u don't only have to have a 100 gal. aquarium, do u. The maroon clown is agressive towards other clowns but not other species. What if the female kills the male, the smaller one. Are u sure that's safe. I have no anenomes right now, will the clownfish live happily without one. If i add 1 or 2 later, will the clown go to it, or does it have to be put in at the same time. What kind of anenomes do maroon clowns like best. |

Absolutley not true, they are very very hostile once they establish thier teritory. I have had a maroon clown hartass a lionfish to death. IMO as have bred these before, i would say they are the most vagressive of the clownfish by far, not to mention one of the largest. Maroons and other highly territorial fish would be added last usually to avoid conflict. |

| Re: My yellow striped maroon clownfish Yes, clowns can and do live "happily" without anemones. In fact, if you were going to get an anemone, I would have gotten that first. I have read many posts of (esp maroons) diving right into the anemones , giving them no chance to acclimate and harrasing them to death. _________ I Love My Sig By John Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is very true, I had to quarentine my clowns for about a week as they wouldnt let my BTA attach. |

| Re: My yellow striped maroon clownfish well this anenome would go in the sand. I'm gonna get a bulb anemone and a long tentacle anemone. Can i just take the clown out while i put my blue tang, flame angelfish, anemone, and manderin in. Then put him back in. So will he be safe with those fish and anemones. |

| Re: My yellow striped maroon clownfish First, a BTA (or bulb anemone) will attach more commonly to rock not sand.
Second, I hope you are not planning to add all of those fish at one time.
Third, Mandarins are notoriously difficult fish, not for the beginner or newly set up tank.
Fourth, there are no guarantees in this hobby. You are choosing to put an aggressive fish with not so aggressive fish. Roll the dice, if you must. They may or may not be fine.
Your mandarin may not be fine with the anemones...then again, he may be. You may have problems with 2 anemones in that size tank.
You are really asking question to which no one can give you an answer and at the same time, ignoring answers already given.
I am not trying to bust your chops, but just trying to get you to think a little and avoid some potential problems. |

| Re: My yellow striped maroon clownfish I'll be more direct than BL. That is way too many fish for a 55 gallon.
You can have two BTAs in one tank but only one clown fish as there is not enough territory for multiple clowns. They will most likely fight to the death.
Mandarins need a minimum of a 100 gallon tank to ensure enough pods for their requirements. The tank must also be at least a year old.
Tangs need a minimum of 75 gallons to accomodate their constant lateral swimming.
Please rethink your fish list as two of your choices are inappropriate for your tank.
You always want to add your fish slowly, one every three to four weeks, and from least to most aggressive. _________ Just tryin to recreate God's perfection in a glass bowl. 20 Gallon Reef W/Live Rock, mated pair of Maroon Clowns, Softies, 110 watts PC 10,000k lighting, and skimmer. |
