| multiple tangs Is the general rule about keeping multiple tangs in the same tank? Possible or not?
Do they have to be of the same species?
Are there certain tangs you don't want to be together? _________ 180g acrylic, 110g sump, asm g2 skimmer, 1/3hp arctica titanium chiller, kent marine ro/di 4-stage hi-s |

| Re: multiple tangs My personal experience...I have kept a Scopas Tang and a Blonde Naso together with no problem, they were best buds. I lost the Scopas a while back and the Naso seemed like he was kinda lost for a day or so. I lost him a week or so ago...who knows, maybe he died of a broken heart  Anyways, I've heard that as long as they don't have the same body shape, they should be alright. But, then again, I have seen tangs that do have the same body shape kept together peacefully, who knows? _________ |

| Re: multiple tangs I got a Sailfin to eat my hair algae and he's doing it nicely. I have a scopas tang as well. I caught him and put him in my fuge for a few days until the sailfin can get used to the tank and then I will put him back in. Soon as I put the sailfin in the tank the scopas did his best to kill him. Hopefully when I reintroduce him it will be different. My tank is a 75. What kinds of tangs were you thinking of adding Gamma? _________ &&Right now I'm in the middle of a conversion from reef to Discus/ planted aquarium. Hair algae beat me down. Maybe a nano in the future. Everything screwed up so I'm converting to FOWLR. Wish me luck. |

| Re: multiple tangs well currently i have a yellow eye tang. these were the ones i was considering:
yellow
pacific blue
naso
chevron
convict
sohal
clown
powder blue
powder brown
achilles

i wanted to have 3 tangs total in my tank. i'm leaning towards getting a powder blue (acanthurus leucosternon) and one more. |

| Re: multiple tangs GaMmA,
Mixing same species always a risk. Much depends on size of tank, age/general disposition of specific fish.
I have a yellow tang, Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus
) and a Sailfin (Zebrasoma desjardinii) that all get along very nicely on the whole. - 1st two introduced together when very young, the last a bit later. Also very young.
Also keep in mind tank size...most tangs get big and need lots of swimming room. (and with healthy conditions, grow FAST!)

| Re: multiple tangs Watch out for Scopas, their mean little buggers. If your housing a Scopas and want a nother tang, get the next one much larger then then Scopas, it usually helps.
