Oh, and flake food is very high in nitrates, I personally don't recommend it. Nori, Japanese seaweed, is a much better forage item for grazers.

Craig,

I have heard the ' flake food is full of Nitrates ' statement before but can't find ANY information that suggests it's true.

Vegatable matter is the source of nitrates, just like your lawn clippings.

Craig,
So is it safe to say not to add fresh veggies to the tank?

Craig,

Any organic matter is a source of Nitrate, not just vegetable matter or lawn clippings ;-)

Not necessarily. Broccoli will be grazed by several tangs and angels and it has good vitamin content, much more than lettuce. Make sure you remove any uneaten Nori or Broccoli.

Good point Craig.
You guys think I should pull the link off the links page?

EDIT - HEY SALTYFISH, I THINK NORI IS SOME KIND OF SEAWEED.

It's dried seaweed, often used by the Japanese for Sushi :-)
