| Maroon clown skin peeling? i have a gold striped maroon clown who is hosting a bubble coral and recently his skin is peeling underneath his mouth, is the bubble coral stinging him or is it a disease of some sort? He has been hosting this bubble coral now for about six months and i have not seen any other problems, but i only noticed recently that he seems to "clean" the coral with his mouth. Any ideas?
thanks
Peter

| It looks like it has an open wound. Did it get injured some how? You might want to consider placing it in a QT tank and treating with a broad spectrum antibiotic if it looks like a wound and is progressively getting worse. The other possibility is that the fish has Brooklynellosis! Check out this site. | A lot of times clowns will clean rocks and coral scuffing their mouth. They can also get pretty aggressive about fanning sand away with their fins. I have a 4-5 inch sandbed and most of my clowns have fanned out the sand to make a hole that goes all the way to the bottom glass. They will scuff their bodies up by doing this behavior too. I just looked at the pic and that looks pretty bad. Is it just the one clown? or do you have a pair? I can tell you, the clown in the pic is a female...By the dark color and the color and size of the bands. I hope she gets better for ya. Mine gets that same white stuff on her side quite frequently but never that bad. Gl |

| this is the only clown in the tank, and i don't think the clown got injured at all atleast not from other fish, the clown is the boss of the tank, I have never seen the clown fight with other fish she only chases the Damsels away if they get to cloes to her territory
