Mandarin Goby - Nano Tank

Has anyone here been successful in keeping a mandarin goby in a tank as small as 10 gallons? I know there is a lot of views on this debate so I am interested in finding out.

Yes....but how much work are you willing to put into it?
For a 10g you MUST

1. Culture live pods and introduce them tri-weekly
2. Find a mandarin that will eat prepared food (mine does)

If its just a 10g...put a fuge on it!

Only chance for survival would be getting it to eat artificial foods before inserting into small tank...could not keep enough rock to support it.

as long as the fish is eating frozens before you take it home it is no harder than maintaining most other fish. it's the ones that are only eating live that will not make in a small tank even in my 55 i lost a mandarin(not eating frozens) and i have about 110 lbs of rock in my tank.

My mandarin in my 14g eats mysis and enriched brine. She has taken a pellet or two, but I'm still working on that.

For anybody that is curious, its like I told TBAR...

The best thing to do is get in good with your LFS.
Have them put the smallest mandarin they get in small tank w/ a clown or similar fish.
The smaller the fish the more they can be 'trained' by watching the other fish's behavior.
They will usually take mysis and brine rather readily and with a bit of training they may take pellet food!

If your tank is large and has a ton of live rock to support pods, your Mandarin won't have a need to even try frozen foods since food is all around it. If its not trained or used to frozen foods., its going to be luck to see if it starts to eat it.
