  | Lost my Copperbanded today Woke up this morning and found my Copperbanded butterfly stuck to the side of my Koralia 4 still breathing and struggling to get off.
I turned the Koralia off, he floated to the bottom, breathing very fast and I left him there hoping he just needed to rest. Came back a few minutes later and he had nestled himself up between two rocks. Found him still there a bit ago, but dead.
No scars, no disease, and he was really healthy yesterday and last night, eating, swimming around. Guess he got too close to the Koralia last night and couldn't get loose. Too late by the time I found him.
I am so bummed too, he was a great fish. Ate great, ate any aptasia that sprung up, and got along with everyone.
I've lost two fish in 2 weeks...bad week. _________ Tank: 75g glass, AquaC Remora, Eheim Ecco Canister filter, Odyssea (2x250W MH, 4x65W actinics, 6 LEDs), 80lbs of live rock Critters: 2 false percula clowns, blue damsel, lawnmower blenny, squirrel fish, 2 anthias, flame hawkfish, copper banded butterfly, coral banded shrimp, cleaner shrimp, fighting conch, condy anemone, and lots of misc snails Corals: Green stripe mushrooms, blue mushrooms, candy cane, frogspawn, Green Zoanthids, star polyps, acropora, monipora

| | 3reef Moderator | Sorry for your loss. But a healthy fish would not get sucked up but a power head. There is no way. There must be another cause of death

J | See, I thought the same thing. But he was swimming around and acting great right before I turned the lights off and went to bed. Even ate a few hours before.
Everybody else is doing fine. The other fish (6-line wrasse) I lost i just over the weekend, he died due to one of my other fish eating his eye.
checked water parms and everything is normal:
Ph 8.2
dKH: 10 (a little low for my tank, but not too crazy usually 12)
Ca: 430
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0
Mg: 1300
Ph: 0 (running phosphate remover) |

I wouldint think a healthy "sizable" fish would get hung on one considering how their made, power head's on the other hand yes, small fish are dead meat whe they get to close to the suction end.
As well i have 2 midas blenny's ( they both are indentical ) so it's hard to tell which one' or both do it but, they or "1" will purposly swim up and lay on the koralia pump ( where the grill is while its running ) and they seem to like this as i see this all the time.
Quite amusing to say the least and i often wonder why they like it so much.
