Default Late sleeper...

Added new wrasse yesterday...Yellowtail Coris Wrasse (Red Coris wrasse). Decided my tank is just too busy of a place for any of the fairy wrasses to do well in. They like a calm, mellow environment and my tank is certainly not that. Probably just lucky my Flame wrasse lasted so long.

Anyway, new wrasse was AWOL this AM, and so thought, here we go again, but just few minutes ago (2 PM) he just showed up.

Apparently this is a common characteristic of this species of wrasse, which is known to hide out in sand for long periods of time.

He is good sized (~4-5 inches) and has a strong temperment enough that the other fish pay him no never mind.

Think it is going to do well, esp with the large population of little nuisance snails I have in tank. He is already grubbing around peeking in holes and crevices for goodies to eat.

Shrimp and hermit crabs may become at risk if he gets big/hungry enough. - will do best keeping him from becoming so.

LFS says he can be returned if develops any bad habits. No sign of so far.

So far he and sixline getting along fine. (Not being bothered by any of the other fish at all - which is unusual in itself)

Don't rush out and get.

This fish can come with some very bad habits.

Loves to push over rock to see what he can find underneath them. So unless your rock is very stable, you may get some unwanted rearrangement.

Not really considered reef safe because of appetite for small crustations.

I got him knowing this because I have a large nuisance snail population I would like to keep under control.

Very pretty...but am keeping close eye on. Will return to LFS if shows any bad/unwanted behavior.
