| Kole Tang After my dogface puffer got sucked up, I decided to replace it with a Kole Tang (just couldn't wait to get a new fish). Any ways the tank is new only about three weeks old after the cycle. The tang I have had for about a week, he isn't to skiddish anymore but he won't eat. No matter what I put in the tank he won't eat it, I've tried brine and mysis shrimp, and also I have algae sheets I have tried. I do see him picking at rocks and the sand, but I am worried cause there really isn't that great of an algae growth yet. Any ideas? _________ 72G Bowfront

Euro Reef Skimmer

| Get some frozen food that you can thaw for algae eaters.. I used to use Formula 2 with my Kole Tang but there are many options these days, buy a couple different ones and see what he likes.
Be careful about going to fast. You need to review your situation and think about what is safe to be in there.
Kole Tangs are very mellow for Tangs, but they should not be the first fish in the tank in general as they are territorial and anything you put in there afterward can be subject to a beating.
This is the time to play it smart as you will have less problems down the road. |

Goog luck with getting him to eat also ,Is it the only fish in the tank at this point.? |

| Thanks for the advice! I know I jumped the gun on this tank, unfortunately I didn't quite realize that until it was to late. I have a blue damsel, a yellow tailed blue damsel, sailfin tang, and kole tang. So far everything is going great. I check the water parameters every other day and as of last night they are perfect. I don't plan on adding anything else though for at least 2 months just so I know it is ok. |

| Mine did the same thing for about 3-4 weeks, only picking at the LR. I was scared that he was going to die of starvation. He eventually started to eat everything I put into the tank. | Yeah, mine wouldn't accept any type of algae sheets, but LOVED blood worms. Maybe you could try those.. i know.. mine might have been a little uncharacteristic for a tang.
