| They are rated difficult but one of my LFS had a black ribbon eel for several months before they sold it and he told me that he didnt do anything extra to keep it in god health. The only thing is the feeding. Most of them are live feeders, and are difficult to get them to feed on non live food. But im sure you already know that .
God luck. Very cool animal.

  | the guy in the shop has had it for a little while and hes had it on live shrimp and feeder guppys, i seen him snatch up a shrimp so i know hes eating and he looks to be in good health. i would like to get him on frozen foods after i get him ive read that krill is one thing they take to when they do go to frozen and some take silver sides so well see how it goes |

| Yeah, he is very cool looking.
I've kicked the eel habit, but most will take to Krill with patience. Remember, most have just fair eyesight. The scent of Krill and a good display (Wave it right in front of his nose. I used long chopsticks.) will hopefully get him to eat.
Good luck

| touchy specimen it is a beautiful specimen Karlas and i wish you luck i have a snowflake moray that has just been transferred to a larger tank(he was crouding my 50). i noticed he was sometimes picky with krill or silver sides. you may experience this with your ribbon. i found that getting a small piece of salmon or ahi ahi from the grocery store usually got him in the eating mood. this may help if you experience the same problem.
good luck

  | i actually got him a little early i will try to post a pic but right now have no digi camera so i dont know howd i would get a pic on the internet and hes a tiny bit bigger then i first thought i thought he was 2 feet but he stretched across the tank and hes at least 3 feet and a few inches. if he does well i will be puting him in a longer tank i found out about a fish store that was closing and got a 30 gallon long tank with hood lights and solid wood stand marked down to 150 bucks so i grabbed it thought the length would be better for him once i get it set up but it will ;be a little while |

  | i bought some saltwater shrimp off the internet they are living in the tank it was 100 for 20 dollars plus shipping some of them died i think due to shipping so its hard to tell, and got him some feeder guppies today i wasnt able to see if he ate anything or not plus the feeder guppies dont last long in saltwater he might have grabbed some of them he was going balistic in the tank for quite a while when they were swimming around. so i hope hes eating. he keeps grabbing silver sides but spits them out so im hoping theres a chance he might take to them yet. he shows no interest in krill or clam but today he went for a silverside 3 different times mouth wide open and grabbed it so maby i can get him switched over to frozen foods. the store had him on ghost shrimp and guppies but maby hes grabben one or 2 here and there where its hard to notice (crossing fingers) |
