Default Hello Everyone, got a question for you...

Well, I can honestly tell you all that hypo-salinity did Not work out. Neither did the Copper. Lost everything to ich, with a few exceptions, 3 bar gobies made it through everything! They are such a hardy fish. They have showed no sign of disease/stress at any time. It has been 2 days today since my last fish died. What gives? Should they be qt'd anyway? I have inspected them on several occasions today alone and not a sign of a thing gone wrong. This hobby never ceases to amaze me.

it's good to quaratine (next time). You can keep your tank fishless while you quaratine any new acquisitions. I am not sure but 42 days i think is long enough to keep it fishless.

I retired the reef for now. Maybe a nano or a softies tank in the future when I have both time and money. 60 gallon FOWLR in the meantime. My echidna nebulosa are still going strong!

the way i understand it, ich is a result of opportunistic bacteria becoming stronger due to fish stress, i.e. the fish become stressed for some reason and the bacteria "strike while the iron is hot". could be that the gobies just weren't as stressed as the others, have a stronger immune response, etc.
does that sound right, all ye who are more experienced than i?

my friend lost his entire FW tank to ich recently--all but one very healthy oscar. that thing is an indestructible brute! he literally jumps out of the water at feeding time to try and get the food as soon as possible.
