Default grouper question

I bought a grouper, a large one, about 8 to 10 inches long ,decided to go with a few big fish,i tend to enjoy them more
Anyway the tank he came from had no rock in it and he would swim around with other fish, i put him in my tank that has rock and i never see him, i know groupers like to hide in rocks but is it necessary to have rock?
The reson i'm asking is i got him because I thought he was a beautiful fish and i hate having a fish you never see ,i would rather put the rock in a possition that he wount hid in it ,maybe behind it but not in it

Give him some time to get used to his new environment and I am sure he will start coming out from hiding. John

Yes but you have to also remember that some fish don't feel safe unless they have a place to hide, So removing that from your tank you are also adding stress to your fish that would naturally hide in nature. You have to try and give the fish that you choose the closet thing as you possibly can to there natural environment to make them feel safe and happy in captivity. JMO ..............................
