I retired the reef for now. Maybe a nano or a softies tank in the future when I have both time and money. 60 gallon FOWLR in the meantime. My echidna nebulosa are still going strong! |

Mandarins should only be kept in a well established aquarium preferably over 75 gallons in size with a large copepod population as that is it's main diet, and may not accept other forms of food ............. John |

| Re: Green Mandarin mandarins might accept brine shrimp and other shrimps but this cannot be the sole basis of it's diet. that is why a healthy pod popullation which a 50 lb LR or more can accomodate. Buried PVC or LR aid pods to populate. As what everyone said, a mature tank (a year old minimum) is required. Otherwise the mandarin will go starve and die. |
