Default Foods for Anthias

I am thinking about purchasing three Purple Queen Anthias but don't know much about what foods they like. I have a frozen Cyclop-eeze bar that makes my fish go crazy. I also feed frozen foods and sometimes Flormula One flake food soaked in vitamins and fatty acids. I feed small portions three to four times a day.

The feeding regimen is good and you might want to add some mysis shrimp to the mix.

The frozen foods I feed are Zooplankton, Mysis shrimp, Formula A, and a herbivore food. I also have live mysis shrimp, copepods and amphipods running around the tank and refugium which my Spotted Mandarin loves. I also feed my three Tangs clippings of my Caulerpa macro algae from the refugium.

Sounds like you have it all under control... The main thing with anthias is that they are constantly fed as there natural habitat being in the break zone on the reef means they are constantly waiting for food and tend to pine away slowly without it, but you should have no problems feeding them three to four times a day!

Good luck and purple queens are gorgeous, especially in three's!!

Cheers,

Breed

Anthias' are very pretty fish! They require multiple feedings throughout the day for their health and long term success. A varied diet is best to ensure that they receive the beneficial vitamins and nutrients that accompany the myriad of different foods stuffs available.
