| Fish Recommendations Looking for some fish suggestions. I want some thing hardy, colorful and active for my reef setup. What are some of everyone's favorites. I currently have a yellow tang, true Perc, and a purple pseudochromis(sp?). All three seem fairly friendly.
Thanks for the replies.

| Re: Fish Recommendations I absolutely love Flame Hawks. They are very personable and seem to be more doglike than fish - including nipping your hand when you feed them! Keep in mind, however, that most hawks will chow down on smaller shrimp in the tank so if you plan on keeping any then you may want to think twice about hawks.
Also, like the previous poster mentioned, you're getting a little heavy on fish. When I had my 180 going I had:
- Royal Gramma (I love these)
- Potters Angel (I love pigmy angels too, but these can nip at some corals)
- Yellow/Blue damsel
- Purple Tang
- Cleaner Wrasse
That was it. Very light load for a 180, but I never had any problems with either fish or corals and the only fish I lost in this tank was a blenny that found his way out of it! The nice thing was that I only put food in the tank every other day or so. There were enough critters living in the rock and coming out of the refugium that the fish all stayed fat and healthy without much additional food. I'm a fan of very few fish in a reef tank - lots of good benefits to this philosophy.
All the fish I mention were wonderful, but I would not recommend either the Potters or Cleaner Wrasse for beginners. They can be a little tough to keep. The Hawk, Royal Gramma Purple Tang and Damsel (obviously) are all hardy. I had the Royal Gramma and Damsel for about 5 years, the Purple Tang, Hawk and Wrasse for about 3. I was very sad when I had to get rid of them/tank - it was a work thing

| Re: Fish Recommendations To be honest, I wouldnt go with too many more fish.
Perhaps a 6 line wrasse or a green chromis. Other than that, you are really crowing, especially with the tang and corals.
You dont want to stress your corals by increasing the bioload too much. |
