Default Finally!!!

After struggling with my tank since December, it looks like things have come together. Today, I just picked up a bi-colored blenny and a maroon clown. Everyone is playing nicely, even the yellow tail damsel.

Looks like I'll have to wait for the copper to come down before getting another snail, but other than that...things are good!

Thanks again for all the advice!!!

That sounds great! Im glad things are shaping up...I know how frustrating it can get when everything seems to go down the toilet...pun intended ^^. You are correct about the copper, make sure all that bad stuff is gone before any inverts are placed in the tank.

Congrats man! I got lucky (so far) in that I've only had 2 deaths, a hammer coral and a favia bran (the latter because it was in too much current).

Now you can enjoy your tank instead of dreading it :p

Glad all is doing well! Copper is very destructive in a reef tank especially so the removal of it thoroughly will be crucial. Yellow Tailed0damsels are one of the least aggressive of the damsels along with the green and blue chromis'.

Well...I have a FOWLR tank. Not enough light for a reef environment. I think I have a total of 30 watts in the self contained unit.

Hopefully, I can find an anenome (my spelling is terrible...) for the clown that will be ok with the lighting.

The first time we tested for copper, it showed zero, which was a surprise, but I guess the test was bad, we got a zebra turbo and he only lasted a few hours. The LFS tested our water and found a trace of copper...dammit! However, our crabs are doing well!

There are products to 'absorb' copper that supposedly work. I can't find any names right now but I'm sure your LFS knows about em

Cuprisorb works great. I've had to copper my FOWLR tank and I run it continuously. It changes to a blue color when exhausted.
Try a hairy mushroom for your clown to host instead of a anemonie. The mushroom does not need alot of light. The mushrooms get big like carpet anemonies.

Find that source of Cu before buying any more inverts!

I had great sucess with this when fighting a copper problem in past.

Good for other things besides copper. Available at most large online marine product dealers (customaquatic, BigAls, etc.)

My copper source was a brass fitting in a cheapo pond pump I was using. Took forever for me to figure out, not to mention much grief and $$$.

Good Luck.
