Default Do Not Ever Ever Buy A Damsel!

So I decided to go ahead and buy my mandarin goby. Upon introduction to the tank, my hateful velvet damsel started harassing him immediately!   I had to tear down half my tank just to fish the little sh** head out! Still took me like 30 minutes..... and my LFS wouldn't even give me a credit for him! I gave him to them anyways. So now my whole tank is PISSED at me and shriveled up. The only benefit from this 3 hour fiasco is that I was able to rearrange my rocks better, so it looks much nicer....to me anyways. We'll see how everything does now. Plus I gave my LFS my boring pagoda coral and got a six line wrasse instead. I'm just worried my anemone will move from where I put his rock. He'd be PERFECT there! Cheers!

When I got my tank the LFS said"O get damsels they are great, hardy cheap, and not aggressive". They like to not be nice to anything that u put in the tank.

The bad thing is that when someone get's in the hobby, they get the impression that they are friendly because they look harmless, but people end up learning the hard way by introducing one without educating him or herself.

Well let this be a lesson to anyone thinking of getting a godforsaken damsel. JUST DON'T DO IT. Actually I honestly feel a little sad because I did have him for like...2+ years. He got HUGE! Oh well. At least maybe now my Royal Gramma will get braver.

About clowns being a damsel, I believe that because during this whole circus, when I was moving the anemone rock or if I even went close to it, my clown was attacking me! Yea, not fun either. Who says the anemone gives the clown protection? He was attacking something 1000 times his size!

One that I've never had a problem with is the blue with yellow tail damsel. That's not to say that they're all well behaved but I've never had one get very aggressive towards its tankmates, even when it's the first fish in the tank.

I had blue/green chromis and they turned mean when I added other fish to my tank. I eventually ended up having to use a trap to catch them and return them to the lfs who didn't give me credit either........little damnsels.

I've seen some very agressive clowns. Big Maroons can be a handfull.

That said, I still have 3 blue devils a blue and yellow tail and an ancient 4 stripe that I use for cycling new tanks. The 4 stripe is banned to the hospital tank to keep some bio load on it.
