Coral Beauty

Just want to ask about this purchase before buying. Which is a first for me...(asking first that is)

I want to get a Coral Beauty for my tank...I hear their good for algea control, along with my snails, but I would have to feed it different than my other fish.

Just asking for opinions on these pretty little fish and any advice on care...

I was lucky and had one that was cool in my old tank. Dwarf angels are a roll of the dice. Especially Coral Beauties. Many have had them nip at coral polyps and had to remove them. That said, they are not that finicky when it comes to food. I used to mix it up between algae and meat based frozen foods.

Mine is just gorgous. He really looks awesome with the actnic lights as he floureses well. He has not even bothered by soft corals. Also he grazes all the time on my liverock but I dont think he would actually control any algea as he just nips but doesnt really take any algea off the rock. He also loves darting through all the holes and crevaces between the rock. In MHO they are a great fish....go buy one.

Can you see from the pic how bright the tips of his fins are. I swear he comes with batteries he floureses so well. I also feed my fish 4 different foods frozen and dry. IMO keeping your fish happy and healthy fish will be brighter and their color will look deep and rich. A well balanced diet and clean water and fish will let you know they are happy. Also my fish enjoy a healthy supply of copapods as this tank has araganite gravel and the pods thrive.

copapods?? I have argonite too.....I find little bugs in my filter material sometimes...is that what these are??? I thought they were coming out of my live rock...but anyways, Ill probably look into it now because we do enjoy the actinic light look!!!

The pods probably originate on the live rock but the copapods in my tank cover the glass and rock in my tank. can watch my fish between feedings chasing these little bugs around. I actually think I have enough pods in my tank that I could not feed the fish for perhaps months and they would be fine eating just pods. I dont know why I have so many. I dose my tank with various plankton products a couple times a week. This is probably helping.

huh...thats wild. I never knew about those...can I , or should I, add some? (like adding sea monkeys!) I havent been adding any plankton yet either....

I use Kent Marine Phytoplex and Microvert. This wont give you pods. I dont even know if the pods in my tank are eating these. I just know that with my gravel substrate the pods keep on coming. Look them on google to find out about copapods. Or mabey someone else here will chime in with more info. They come in on liverock and just showed up after a week in my tank. My fish eat them all day.

I have heard and read that in med-lrg systems CB's are awesome, but have seen them do major damage in smaller systmes to clams and softies....i had a tiny one (approx 1&quot for a while as the sole fish in a 10gal and it did great @ keeping my pulsing xenia pruned. I know this next ones off topic...but that is an A. ploymnus as ur avitar right? (black saddleback) sometimes there pawned with the name of black percula.....i was wondering if you can give me a breif history on your personal experience with that guy....read alot about em, sold afew....but have never heard many personal accounts with them. I've had a pair for bout 2 months now and they seem quite protective fo thier tank but are very social and will even take food from my fingers.

they are nice and hardy but they seem to get a taste for polyps as they get bigger. feeding them well should avoid and discourage them from poking your corals.

i miss CBs. Use to have them 20++ years ago.
