| Clownfish in the BTA!! Well it happed, last night I looked in the tank and my ocellaris clown joined the purcula in the BTA!! Ive had the ocellaris for like 6 months and it never looked at the bta. I guess the purcula make it look like to much fun, lol. The ocellaris dosent go in it to much in the day, but at night, they both sleep in it. Now I just wish the poor bta was bigger. Im gonna have to feed it more i guess. Im thinking the clownfish has to build up there mucus or something, because the ocellairs didnt just jump right in. The last few nights it would start hitting the anemone with its tail, the work its way up. Oh and it got stung a few times. I would see the poor girl jet from the anemone sometimes, but she wouldnt give up. Tank bred clowns just dont have a reason to use the anemone. That why I think they are slow to take to them. If I wouldnt have got the purcula, my ocellaris would probably never go in the bta. Im asuming the purc came from a tank with an anemone, or something simular, because it is tank bred too. To the people that cant get them to host, just give them time, and posably another clown that likes it to show the original how, lol. Good luck out there,

| That's awesome man. Now you made me really want a BTA. Once I get done moving to the 72G bowfront and things settle out I will probably get one. I heard that tank raised clowns host easier, but obviously it's always a case by case basis with those guys. BTW post a pic man

| lol, ill try to snap a shot tonight after the clowns go to bed. The ocellaris only sleeps in the bta for now. She just like to see what is going on in my room more than play in the bta, and the purc like to play in the bta, go figure. Monkey, dont clowns get darker, or get black spots from hosting buttons, and zoos?? Ive read alot on Reef Central of clowns in different host will change color. I think it is because the buttons, and zoos have a more powerfull sting!! |
