| no anemones in my tank.i'm not against people putting anemones in their tanks but i just don't want to deal with them moving around in my crowded tank, stinging corals and theres the short life in captivity.my tank runs a bit hot for them 2 because of a pond pump i should not have used.it has no enemies in the tank right now so the gsp should be fine for it to nest in.i may add a coral beauty soon but i'll study about them first before adding something that may hurt the little fish. |

With equipment, lighting, etc. we have today, anemone longevity is no longer a big issue esp. with hardy BTA's. I have had one in tank for almost 5 years now...and a number of smaller ones that keep splitting. They almost always find a place that provides maximum distance from other corals.
A CB would be a great addition. Usually a very non-aggressive fish. Not only pretty, but playful and fun to watch.
Mine likes to play "fish tag" with my black striped "humbug" damsels. Sometimes chasing and sometimes being chased. Posted earlier about it "protecting" newly introduced fish.
Does go nuts now and then, streaking around tank, swimming sideways, fins all fully expanded and heightened color...goes on for about an hour - But does not threaten any one. Just happens once in a while.
Get rid of the pond pump as soon as you can. I had one that caused terrible Cu issues because of internal brass fittings. Heat also a major problem on hot days. |

| I'd never put a anemone in a tank with corals .. Its not that I can't keep one but as mentioned they move.. I hate to see a 50.00 anemone set up next to a 400.00 coral an rub it to death I had that happen several times. Anemones need to be kept in a species specific only tank. But its not my money or worry .. _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

But its not my money or worry .. | Must have something to do with type of anemone and type of corals. My large bta has never moved since putting in tank (4 years)...my small ones move only after they split. I have never witnessed them harm either my soft corals or frogspawn. They do like to find an open spot away from any corals if they can.
If one of my "splits" goes somewhere I do not like, it gets a taste of Joe's Juice and that is the end of it.
The interaction of my clowns and the BTA's is one of the most fascinating aspects of my tank. I would not like to be without them.
I also have two anems in my nano with two percs. The BTA's stay put in there as well. (at least as long as I have had tank setup) - but they were already well attached to rock when I moved them from main tank.
While I greatly respect Tangster's experience and wisdom, different people have different experiences.
I think it would be worth a try. (but then again, I have never spent more then $10-$15 for a coral. - always have gotten frags and just let them grow - so I am not risking much) |
