clown fish died

About three months ago i set up a 180g saltwater tank i cycled the system with five black mollies and when it was finaly cycled about two weeks ago. so i got myself two false percs and last night the smaller of the two jumped out of the tank and died :'(

i was wondering if any of you have had any of your fish jump out and die, espeacialy clowns. Anything i can do to prevent this from happening again.

these clowns are my first saltwater fish so i'm quite niew at this any help would be apreciated

THat sucks!

I had a Diamond Goby jump out and die before on my open top 30.

If you have an open top and jumper fish, many people put a 3-4" wide glass lip around the tank. This prevents a lot of jumping up the side.

do clownfish have a reputation for jumping out of a tank or is this an isolated incident?

One of my percula clowns jumps out of the water everytime the lights go off for the night. I've added a DIY cold-cathode moonlight, which seems to be keeping the fella from getting a concussion on the glass top!

Many people with open tops cover their tanks with egg crate material that can be found at your local Home Depot.

Why not just add a glass top? They are cheap and they cut down remarkably on evaporation.

Glass tops have a negative effect on oxygen exchange, prevents heat from escaping from the aquarium water and it effects the light spectrum of your bulbs.
