Default Cleaning Substrate

Do you guys have any suggestions on a fish or invertebrate that is good for cleaning the substrate of a tank?

I was thinking of sand sifting gobies but i know they are hard to keep, but would a pair of two spot gobies be a better option cause they are smaller and therefore would the regeneration of the organisms in the sand be large enough to sustain them?

Are there any snails that sift through to clean the sand?

Im looking for something that will not be a threat to any fish or corals.

Thanks

How much substrate do you use and whats on it .. I have never in all my yrs in this hobby ever had to clean substrate. Only time I have ever seen it to the point of it needing to be cleaned was from people way way way over feeding the tank. If its a DSB then anything you put in there to SIFT and clean will be doiing harm to what you already are in short supply of.. Hermits do all the cleaning I ever needed to have done.

Considering my flow isnt all that high and ive had the tank running for about 4 and a half years, I suspect it is something to do with the slight build up of detrius. I like the look of a very clean white substrate so i though that cleaning would help make it look healthy. The only inverts i have are snails as a have a pink-tail trigger which likes to eat just about anything that moves.
