Sorry for your loss. I too wonder how people can say that animals cant have emotions like self pity and the like. My wife had a land hermit crab that went through a bad moult and lost his legs. My wife hand fed this crab for over a month until his next moult and his legs came back.

The next time something like that occurs, try quarantining the fish and add iodine to your water as it is a germicidal agent and it can kill bacteria and protozoans-especially effective with Xenia flourishing!
