| Changing Fish Selection Hello Again Everybody,
Just trying to get your opinions on some fish compatibilitites. Right now I have 2 3-stripes and a coral banded shrimp in the tank and wanted to add a little more and/or different livestock. I recall someone saying that most LFS's will exchange fish (especially 3-stripes...since most of the time they are used for new tank syndrome cycling). They are fine in the tank now, but I was hoping to build a less aggressive tank...with some nemos and such. Do you think the 3-stripes would pick on the false percs if I added 1 or 2? How about a maroon clown? Let me know as I am trying to add some more and/or different livestock and don't really want anything to get picked on!
Thanks,
Mike

| Re: Changing Fish Selection i was told maroon clowns were more prone to being hostile to other clowns. i put a maroon and a nemo of the same size in together and they turned out to be best friends.

| Re: Changing Fish Selection The marron will be aggresive to clowns added to the tank after him. So if you want a maroon add it after all the other clowns you want. But like everything else there are exceptions.

| Re: Changing Fish Selection OK...but what i was really asking is this:
Will the 3-stripes be ok with either some percs or a maroon? |

| Re: Changing Fish Selection I stuck my finger in an electrical socket and didn't get shocked once, doesn't mean I'll press my luck again Maroons are hands down the nastiest clown alive. For them to get along with another clown is a full exception.
Your 3-stripes will probably be mean to any new inhabitants of your tank. I'd find them a new home.

| Re: Changing Fish Selection I am going to try placing two percs in my tank this thursday...if the 3-stripes are mean to them, then I will be able to give the 3-stripes to the LFS in exchange for nothing...how generous of them!?!?! But I guess if the percs and 3-stripes dont get along, then I am gonna have to choose one...and I choose NEMO! I will keep you posted! |

| Re: Changing Fish Selection Yeah, I figured that my LFS would do that...but it turns out that they don't. I spoke with one of the workers, who just helps me with problems and stuff...I could try talking to the owner. I am also gonna see if another LFS down the road will do it...
I would actually prefer to trade the 2 3-stripes for a perc...figure the price was about right...but whatever! We will see what happens.
Thanks,
Mike |

| Re: Changing Fish Selection Usually, around here, if the store takes fish back, you get about 1/3 to 1/2 retail in the form of store credit.
Which I guess is not bad...for locally propagated coral frags, we get 2/3 which is pretty great! _________ I Love My Sig By John Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Re: Changing Fish Selection Well...neither of my two LFS's are going to give me any sort of store credit for my fish...kinda stinks!
But my 3-stripes, as anticipated, are picking on the clowns big time...so I am working on getting them out of the tank! They are some of the quickest little guys ever and it is proving to be a very difficult task!
The clowns seem to like the tank and are trying to explore...but the 3-stripes wont let them!
Any catching ideas...I can't go to bed until I get them out of the tank...so any ideas would be great!
Thanks,
Mike |
