Default Can I add a Hippo Tang?

Hey guys, this is my first post here!

I've got a 100 gallon reef tank with about 200 lbs. of live rock and a few corals. I have the following fish:

1 Flame Angel
1 Lawnmower
1 Gold Maroon Clown (with BTA)
1 Puddingwife Wrasse
3 Chromis
1 Royal Gramma

and the kicker

1 Kole Tang approx 3" (he's my newest addition, only been in the tank 1 week)

I was wanting to add a Hippo Tang about the same size of my Kole Tang. I've read that these are 2 of the most mild mannered Tangs. That would give me a total of 10 fish in my tank (none of them bigger than 3&quot Would adding a Hippo be ok? Would the 2 Tangs get along? My Kole hasn't been in too long so he shouldn't be too set in his way yet...

Hey PR WELCOME to 3REEF

I would say yes you could add a hippo but it would be pushing it. Maybe move some of the 200lb of LR to the sump to ensure enough swimming room

You should be OK mixing the Tangs especially since the Kole has only been there for a week, but as Jason said you are beginning to put a load on the tank. Plus, the Tangs won't stay at 3". Give them room to grow. FYI, while my boys are bigger, I only have 7 fish in my 210 FOWLER.

Thanks for the replies guys. One more question. Should the Hippo I add be smaller, bigger, or about the same size of the Kole to best avoid confilct? Does SIZE matter?

Size matters! Oh! I forgot, we are talking about fish here, sorry. LOL. I would get something the same size as the kole tang. I added a hippo tang to my 120 long which already contained a beligerent 6" purple tang. The hippo was the same size as the purple tang. The 2 fish get along except for an occasional sparring. I'm probably just lucky though, because purples are pesky and can be very aggressive.

I think they should be OK, they are different body styles, that usually helps...

What other fish do you have? Is the yellow tang mean to them? That is also and indicator..
