my yellow tangs got some white spots on it's fins, also. it does seem to rub up against the rock, like rubbing it's mouth area. it's been staying outta sight for the most part, except for today. not eating as much, though.

well tang's do have a habbit of "rubbing on the sand" any ways' ( that ive noticed )
those white spots are most "ick spores" on the fish

What most people don't realize is that all fish carry this ick ' in them , it's only notible when the the fish arint doing well ' either by stress/fighting with other occupents in the tank / or the tank paramiters are really out of whack such as PH levels down / amonia / high nitrats etc.
Much like any other living creature in this world fish or mamal
we all carry' parasitic stuff's around us
and when the emune system's are suffering from the lack of a proper enviroment.

Most of the time , this can be easaly taken care of in a ( reef with fish tank ) by doing water changes .

Of course i would like to note' if a person has "fish only" water changes along with a copper treatment can be done as well.

But No attempt should be made to introduce copper to a reef ' ie. live rock and inverts WILL perish from that .

The best course of action from fish that are suffering from a seveer case of parasites/ick should be removed and treated in a hospital tank.

And any "new comers" that you bring home to go into your main display tank should also be Quarintined for a day or two to watch and look for any signs of infestastion's
( it's alot easier now to watch ) and not being able to catch them once their in a large display tank' it takes an act of god to catch the poor things.

ich is such a problem in the home aqaurium - cleaner shrimp, uv filter and a neon goby have done the trick for me. Before that i had a major problem.

have a problem with ich, in my tank. just added chem- marin. checked ph to make sure it stays up. i'll let u know how things go

Hey zubin, My tang has bumps on his stomach, the bumps on mine are from a full stomach. I think the body shape shows more definition of the insides. If they keep growing then I don't know. From what I've gathered from your responses.

^agree with 666. When my blue tang was younger it did have ick, but it also had a bumpy stomach - which I think was just a stomach fully expanded and full of seaweed sheets and algae from the Live Rock.

The bumps seem to come and go and I've just let it be for the time being since tangy girl is her usual self....ie active and relaxed, peacefully doing her thing around the tank. Cute thing! I do see ich sometimes on two of them, but with partial water changes, regularly, it seems to go, only to be back....But I think I'll try what phoenixheights did...let's see if the ich goes away for good.

my fish seem to be doing better, today. the clown tang looks almost spot free, the yellow looks pretty spot free, also
my only concern is they don't seem to be eating. the yellow is in the bottom corner of the tank, kinda pushing the sand around, and rubbing on a rock. the parasite seems to be gone. no more bumps on his body, or visable white spots.
the yellow pays no attention to the food, although the clown swims after the food, but does'nt really eat any.i'm really bummed

What kind of food are you offering the fish?
