Angry brown tang yellow tang

I just purchased a Brown Tang and had a Yellow Tang for a little while. I have the Brown tang in a large net so that they can see him but can't get to him for know because the Yellow Tang was beating him down. Know I think I made a bad decision. Do you think they will be ok in the future or should I take him back for another fish?

If you read up, most people suggest that you do not introduce a specimen of the same shape, like zebrasoma species of tangs because they will fight with each other. There is a chance that they might get along later but the scopas will definetly take a beating before joining the gang. I would trade him in for something else.

Usually, Zebrasoma species do not get along well together, unless they are added at the same time as juvenilles. However there are exceptions to this rule, however, I wouldn't try to bend this rule. I am going to have to go through this same problem as I am going to be moving soon and going to convert everything in my 30 gal hex and 75 gal reef together. I have a Yellow tang in my 75 gal. and a Sailfin tang in the 30 gal reef tank. I don't know if I will put them together or not?

I introduced both juveniles tangs (about 1.5") and they did not stop fighting for a few day. Had to get rid of one. Good luck.

I'm dreading the day when I have to decide what to do with my two tangs. Try to keep them both or which one to put up for adoption!!!

Try a divider if it's only temporary.

The thing is, is that I have too much live rock and about 30 different types of coral. So trying to put a divider in there is going to be challenging. Thanks for the idea though.

I put the Brown Tang in a small Hermit crab tank and dropped him in the main tank. The thought is that they will get used to seeing him in the tank with out being able to attack him. So maybe in a few days I can let him go again and they will still think he is untouchable. Worth a shot I guess. What do you guys think?

So far all the fish keep going up to the mini tank cheking him out. None of them seem to be trying to get in and get him. I will leave him in there one more day then release him again. I feel bad leaving the brown tang in there.
