Default BlueFace Angel

I'm almost finished setting up a 55 hex (I'll have pics up soon!) and I'm figuring out what to put in it. I have a small Koran Angel that will be the first in the tank. I'd like to put a BlueFace Angel in the tank with him and wondered if anyone had any experience with this? Now I know the tank is small for this pair in the long run, they'll eventually move into something bigger when they're large enough. I've heard the BlueFace Angels can be a little territorial? Any thoughts? [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Ah found it...well it is stated that it is not as agressive as other angel fish, but is less hardy i believe...it says that it is better suited for experianced aquarists...i think it is because of its diet...eating sponges, turnicates and other sessile inverts...unless it is already used to prepared food it is very slow at accepting them...

That feeding bit....goes for almost all angels including your koran, which will fade into a gray color as it gets older. Blue faces get huge and will eventually need a 200 gallon (minimum for full growth) tank. I would not recomend the koran to any unless you like the adult colors (most just dump them at a LFS when they mature they should not be sold IMO). Imperators and annularis angels are relativley cheap and babies and juviniles are readily availible, very similar in colors to a koran but turn into two of the most boldly colored fish in the hobby. Also 2 angels dont go together, one will sucumm to stress or physical attack. but if you have the juvenile koran already then i think your stuck with your angel population.

55 gallons is too small for angels except dwarves or pygmies IMHO. The angels you are talking about get anywhere from 12 - 15" long at maturity. A 55 would be way cramped.

Even dwarf or pygmy angels could have territorial issues with two in a 55 gallon. These smaller angels have some of the brightest coloring in the hobby.

Just tryin to recreate God's perfection in a glass bowl. 20 Gallon Reef W/Live Rock, mated pair of Maroon Clowns, Softies, 110 watts PC 10,000k lighting, and skimmer.

Coulda guessed the course of this thread with out even reading it

Wouldn't do it, both those angels can be quite aggressive in such a small tank.
