Give him time, blue tangs are very shy at first and are very skittish. They also like to find a nice crevace to hide or sleep in. And yes they are ich magnets and stress will activate the ich that the fish or tank is harboring silently. I hope that you did a freshwater dip and quarentine on this fish. Be patient with him and good luck.

yes, that lying on the ground thing is common in blue tangs...i dont know if its a good thing or a bad thing, but they do play dead alot...but yes, you might want to get some garlic treatment for the tank to help him out a bit

Smile Re: Blue Tang

I would recommend doing a 3-5min FW dip on all new fish. I do a 90% FW and 10% SW dip on all my new fish. Make sure you adjust the temp and ph and aerate the water for about 30 min with an airstone. I also add a few drops of methylene blue to the water till it is a nice medium deep blue. This helps with oxygenation in the fresh water. The longer the dip the better. Then quarentine for 2-3 weeks.
