I've had both and they can be hard to take care of. A lot of being succesful with these fish is picking out a good specimen. If they look healthy and eat well at the fish store you should be good to go. The smaller one's usually adjust better than the big ones and the powder blue seems to be more delicate.

friend of mine has a powder brown, supposedly their easier to keep than a blue but I'm not brave enough to blow money on either of them

I want an Achilles but their nightmares to keep from everyone I've talked too and not an easy fish to get ahold of in the first place

Unless you have a 150+ gallon tank thats been up for a year don't waste your time on a powder tang

Nemo I have to agree with Tangster I have been following some of your threads . I was a victim of trying to rush things with my tank and I wasted a lot of money I wasted hundreds of dollars on fish . I feel that a few years in I am finally able to resist the urge to get fish when I know that my tank is not in perfect shape. It sucks to wait but I am sure that if your LFS has the fish you want now they will have it in a month or so when you want it and you can get it then. and if you want to just say go ahead and get something get one thing at a time and give some time in between new additions. That is just my opinion however you can take it or leave it.

tbh im with tangster on this one - i remember another thread you posted. You already have a fair few tangs don't you? I really wouldn't add any more.
but if your going to - I'd go with the brown - powder blues are difficult and get ich easier then other tangs, and tangs get ich easy!

You will never know whats in my tank as i can only type 15 words

this is not a question of me getting any thing in a week, i am waiting at least a month before adding anything, and possibley 2 months,

but i need to make a stocking plan for my tank, i dont want to in a month or 2 go into stocking my tank blindly, w/o a stocking plan, all of these questions is to decided what kind of fish that i want, not any where within the next couple weeks.

I saw a very beautiful powder brown a few weeks ago, looked extremely fat and such, price was about 120, most i've ever spent on a specimen was 50 on a clam, I'm concentrating more on getting the best equipment possible before I make any more fish or coral purchases, I know its hard, but its more about giving your fish and corals the best possible enviroment to thrive rather than just existing.
