| Is your clownfish rubbing against/nesting in a coral (such as a frogspawn) or something? |

| In that case, make sure that your fish doesn't have black ich. Sometimes clownfish will get black spots when they initially start nesting in corals (which sting them and leave little "scars" which will eventually go away). Since you don't have any corals in your tank, this doesn't seem to be the case. Black Spot or Tang Disease - Black Ich Diagnosis and Treatment |

| thanks for that. the spots are a little bigger then a grain of sand and they stay in the same place all the time. (dont move around like the article states) some spots are quite large thats how i noticed this at first. however when i get home i will look again
will a uv light help with killing this if it is black ich? |

| I'm not a huge believer in UV. Unless you get the flow rates just right in a UV, it's only going to kill a few of the parasites and won't solve a parasitic infection problem. And the bulbs need to be replaced pretty often and are expensive. |
