an aggressive molly?? i've noticed a strange behavior since the addition of my blue damsel and lawnmower blenny (oh, and a hitchhiker molly lol).. i've had a medium sized molly, and a tiny one for a while... alright... that was just a background... anyway, now when i go to feed my fish (i use "aquarian" flake food in the blue container), the bigger molly constantly attacks the other 2 mollies for about 20 minutes after feeding them... i would think of the fish i have, the damsel would be the aggressive one... but he's just more "curious".. he'll follow a fish (not chase or nip or anything like that) until that fish goes into a crevice or hole... then the damsel would turn and go about his business... i think of it as "hey, where ya goin? oh, i don't wanna go there".... the bigger molly won't mess with the other fish, and i've never noticed him do this before... but now its like he tries to ram into the 2 smaller mollies... and like i've said, this only happens for about 20 minutes... my guess is that, even though the damsel isn't aggressive, he's still a heck of a lot faster, and he gobbles up the food in no time, not giving the molly a chance to get any, and the molly gets ticked and takes it out on the smaller fish.. also, i guess the dark green flakes are algae based or something, because the damsel will swim up to the green ones, look at them for a sec, turn around and suck up the white/yellow ones like there's nothing to it... that in itself is amazing to me.. how a fish like that can have a preferred taste... if anything, i figure he would "taste" the food, and then spit it back out... but not look at it and turn his nose up at it |
