| The sixline is a fairly peaceful fish. They are fascinating to watch and fairly hardy...Mine will eat anything I feed the tank. I would not recommend more then one in your tank. I tried to put a yellow finned fairy wrasse in the same tank and the sixline nearly killed it. Thank goodness we have other sw tanks up, we were able to get the fairy wrasse out and put her in one of those tanks. That is another beauty, the fairy wrasse....

| Nemo, just search any of Scott's (OmarD) old threads. He posted more pics and stories of his old 6 line than anyone else, I think. You may want to PM to ask if he had it in with a mandarin. I know they'd compete for pods, but the 6 line will eat other foods too besides just pods. _________ |

| i know a guy here in town that has his mandarin eating cyclops which is what he feeds his corals anyway if that makes you feel better about it they are capable of getting to eat frozen/live foods
The new 6 line I just got is being a punk and will only eat live foods, so I'm having to use brine shrimp, tonight im going to try 50/50 of frozen mysis and live brine to see if he'll go for the mysis
Never seen either of my 6 lines ever go after another inhabitant

| I love my six line as well! My is a little picky right now on food, I've chopped up some raw shrimp and he ate that, he also ate some frozen brine shrimp, but he doesn't always eat when I feed. I do see him picking at the lr and walls of the tank, so I assume he is eating something. No problem with other fish

| i had a sixline in my 50g for about a year until it decided it wanted to kill my oscellaris clown. in the end the sixline and the clown were destroyed be a close loop pump i was using for circulation. unfortunately my prefilter holes were too large for the two. it was a sad time but i really enjoyed the personality of the sixline. i currently have a female leopard wrasse that i purchased last week and she is beautiful with a great personality. no luck with frozen food though; thank God i have infinite types of pods in the 75g it is in. they never stop moving and are a beautiful fish, i would consider one.

| I would only recommend a leopard wrasse if you can find one that the LFS has had for over a month and eats frozen or freeze dried food. Ours ate frozen (thawed) mysis and spirulina at first, but then eventually started to go after and eat small freeze-dried mysis. Now she will even eat (or nip at) the seaweed strips along with the tangs. It has a good personality, and doesn't bother any of our other fish (see my sig). It needs at least a 2-1/2 to 3 inch sand bed to sleep in, crushed coral or bare bottom isn't suitable for them. |

Ok...to save you trouble of searching...
Post: I love my sixline!
Could see how there may be a problem with them competing for same food in a newly established tank...but while Mandarin has particular eating habits, the wrasse will eat anything.
Wrasse never had problem with other fish in tank including mandarin. Pseudocheilinus hexataenia (Six Line Wrasse) - Sept '05 Fish of the Month (Matt Rogers) Family Reef Tank - Sixline Wrasse Sixline Pics
