    Im starting my SPS coral stocking now, and i want to get a few 5-10 dollar frags in a couple days, i already have a monti that is doing good so far. I want to get some more colorful, branching types that are fairly easy.

    My lighting is a 150w pheonix 14k.

    Alk-12
    temp-78
    Nitrate-15ppm(Is this too high? i can seem to get it lower)
    nitrite,ammonia is 0
    and phosphate I have no clue, but i have no algae.

    Nitrates are too high, I'm afraid. You really want them under 5, absolutely under 10. SPS will brown out at 15 for sure.

    Also, you need to be testing for Phosphate, Calcium, and Magnesium.

    Work on getting everything right before you start throwing money at frags.

    The only acro I would try with 15ppm of Nitrates would be a Bali Slimer

    Okay, thanks for the help, i am going to go buy a HOB filter 2marow and mod it for a fuge so my water will be better.

    WHat I want to know is where you are finding $5 SPS frags? What kind?

    birdsnest grows like a weed in my buddy's tank, and he has 10-15 nitrates...frags it constantly, and sells it for $5....hahhaha

    My LFS. They sell 12 dollar frags, but he had a huge monti and like he just broke off a small piece for me.

    I purchased a $5 frag of Grape Monti from a guy on Clist. It was like the size of a quarter, I wish I wouldnt have gotten a piece that small but usually thats all you get for $5. Only reason I got it was because he was giving me a package deal including a torch I really wanted. I have about 10 LFS in a 50 mile radius. Only one of them has quality SPS. there cheapest frags are $10 however the frags are like the size of a mike and ike candy! Drives me insane!! I wish there was steriods for SPS coral growth. lol
