Getting a Little frustrated lol

My cabbage leathers and my toadstool were added to my tank about 2 weeks ago. The toadstools polyp's are extending but not fully i would say about %50 at the LFS i see toadstool polyps and those suckers get long!! My cabbage leathers aren't dying because they still have their color and they do move around a bit but they for the most part are just drooping. I have a 50 gal hexagon tank, Could my power head placement be wrong?? I have it sitting on the back pane of glass smack in the middle of the tank. My light is a fluval led it has about 24 leds in it. My toadstool is placed about half way up from the bottom of the tank. So I am confused from what i have researched both corals are very hardy they defiantly aren't dying but man i want these suckers to perk up!!!!

I have never used that fixture, but I consider them to be more of a supplemental lighting when added to other types of lighting such as T5. Independent review states it can grow soft corals but I have my doubts.

First I would definitely mess with the flow (increase) and see if that helps. If no resolution than I would look into the lighting.

Always check water chemistry when trouble shooting.

IMOPE, toadstool and cabbage leathers love high flow, around 35 - 40x. FWIW, they really haven't been in your tank very long. Mine took nearly a month to even open.

 

+1 when my wife would sell those lights at petco she made sure it wasn't for a tank with coral. The full spectrum fluval would be be better if you want to stick with that fixture. Hope you find the problem.

 

Ok yea I'm taking this light back I totally didn't want the eco bright version this one only has 24 leds. For $20 more i can get the fluval full spectrum one with 48 leds more than double hahahaha. As far as power head placement goes I guess I'll try a few different spots. Any suggestions for a hex shaped tank

 

What powerhead type and gph?

Try some indirect but much closer flow.

Not familiar with that brand at all, basically it says 10-65 gallons rather than gallons per hour. You want 30x turn over for soft corals at least.

I know I am full of good news. You may have to add more flow.

But when you get the tank dialed in the corals will be beautiful.
