That's an impressive log from the start. It seems like things advanced pretty quickly (I know, that's a bad word), but not in a scary, "my tank is gonna crash" way. Do you have a potential livestock list worked out?

I think I worked it out by adding that Sohal. I doubt I'd be able to add anything else.

The cycle completed very early. The same thing happened on my last tank when I used this rock (florida aquacultured) and live sand. It seems to make a big difference when the rock gets put in the tank the day after it's pulled out of the ocean. I had some nuissance hitch hikers, but the amount of life that I have and the short cycle I had is worth it to me.

Yes, but I'm going to wait a bit for further tank stabilization. I also want to get the macro algae pruned way back before I do that (although, I must say that the diversity of macroalgae on these rocks is absolutely fascinating to me.)

Yeah, now that I'm thinking about corals to add, this stuff is really getting on my freakin' nerves. (I want to make sure I get rid of it before I get corals.) I just went on a pruning binge tonight. I'll probably leave the lights off for a few days as well.

I hate to say it but, that was my thought when you first posted pics. It's gonna be alot of work. Not to mention any nuisance macro hiding in and around. I still really like how it looks. Just not for me.

The scary thing is that there are species of macros growing now that weren't even apparently visible when i first got the rock. (My tank could be a model for a macro algae catalog, I swear.) Anyway, I'm not really sure if I'll reallly be able to get rid of it by pruning. I welcome any ideas to help me along!
