Progress on 90 gallon Well after many weeks of being lazy me and my father started working on the tank again. I have 8 outlets on the bottom controlled by individual switches. I routed pipes thru the floor and up the roof to the outside so i can do water changes from outside the house. Im hoping to do the tank plumbing tommorow and add water to test it out. Tell me what you guys and gals think. _________ 90 gallon tank with center overflows, 44 gallon custom sump/fuge, Tek T5 retrofit 4x54 bulbs, Reef Octopus nw200 protein skimmer, Iwaki WMD40RLXT return pump (changed to panworld 100pxx),Knop c ca reactor, PA light house controller. ^^ Testing it out! Ill add more param.. later.

you might want to add some supports in the center on the front and back of the stand, you're looking at roughly 750lbs of water. Other then that, looks good. _________ Got Questions? Need Answers? "Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it." Andre Gide

With all those 2x4's I would guess that the stand could hold up the entire house What concerns me, if the tank is made of glass, is the lack of a support rim on the top of the tank. Are you doing anything to compensate for the amount of pressure that the water will place on the top of the tank because silicone isn't enough to hold that kind of pressure in.

As for the trim, that all depends on how he finishes the stand and canopy. You do not have to have the plastic trim. I know a place that builds custom tanks and they euro brace the large tanks, 125g+, and dont use anything on the smaller ones unless requested, and they still warranty their tanks the same either way.

well the tank has a brace in the middle which is 15 1/2" x 18" which is made from 1/2 inch glass. I guess thats enough support. As for the stand i made the corners from 2x6 in an L shape and the top and bottom out of 2x4s. I think this stand could the tank hold especially since all the weigh is distributed by the 3/4 inch plywood so a lot of the weight is is resting on the corners.

For euro braced tanks, its recommended that you put a 1/2" piece of styrofoam underneath them to protect the bottom. It also help if there is any uneven surfaces to prevent stress points.

| Tank looks great! I like how it is viewable from all sides. Good call on the support, I filled a 55 gal one time with the top trim support in the middle broken and when it was 3/4 full it pulled away about 2 1/2". Needless to say I drained it and had a top brace ordered before I put water in it again. You don't really realize how much force water has until you see it first hand. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)
