So had my first marine tank up and running from scratch 5 months in and this is the result of 1k (£) for the full set up.

    MY SETUP:
    TANK:
    1 4FT TANK
    LIGHTING
    2*150W mh'S, 2*54W BLUE ACTINIC, 2* BLUE LED MOONLIGHTS
    PUMPS
    1* MULTIJET MP900
    2* MULTIJET MP1200(ONE FOR SKIMMER)
    1* 900 LPH UNKNOWNBRAND
    SKIMMER
    >A JAP ONE, DOES A GREAT JOB
    HEATING- 1* 300 WATT TITANIUM & 1 * 200WATT UNKNOWN BRAND
    COOL STUFF:
    >WIRED SO ALLPUMPSON A REMOTE ALONG WITH SKIMMER
    >ALL SETS OF LIGHTS ON DIGITAL TIMERS (mh 6 HOURS, ACTINICS 10 HOURS, MOONLIGHT 6 HOURS)
    FILTRATION:
STARTED WITH 2000LPH UV PUMP,MOVED TO JUST LIVE ROCK

    things i've learnt -
    THE BAD:
    >mandarins are gorgeous but are hard to keep i've had 2 and both have died (1 jumper,1 non eater), i've added a load of pods and will let them populate for another few months before tryinganother mandy
    >Puffer fish - even the small ones eat polyps bigger than them, kill all your crabs and chase fish out of the tank(mandarin) and attack fish 3 times their size (coral beauty), returned swiftly
    >Long horn cow fish - looks fine one minutre and dead the next - void they could also take ya full tank if ya not careful (mine lasted 3 days)
    >Sweetlips and clown fish don't get on - my nemo killed my gorgeous sweetlips
    >Anenomes - are tempremental even with perfect water mine went strange after a week - and i had to remove or risk him taking everything out
    THE GOOD -
    >MH'S WELL WORTH THE MONEY MAKE YOUR TANK LOOK GREAT
    >CLOWNS, CLEANER WRASSE, SAILFIN AND DAMSELS GET ON WELL
    >URCHINS, TABLE CORALS, XENIAS, MUSHROOMS AND STARFISH SEEM RELATIVELY EASY TO KEEP
    >LOTS OF SURPRISES TURN UP IN THE TANK - SOME GOOD SOME BAD
    >vERY RELAXING AND EASY TO DO

    THINGS STILL TO DO
    >ADD ABACKGROUD
    >SET UP MY FILTER
    >ADD MORE CORALS
    >ADD A FEW MORE FISH

COUPLE OFPICS OF MY TANK AS IT IS NOW ATTACHED
