What do you do to the algae??
| the only algae that will withstand a freshwater bath is Chaetomorpha and its done for about 10-15 minutes. the caulerpa needs a hypo salinity wash and a lugols solution bath to rid it of pests.
_________
just one little sps frag tank with lots of goodies |

yup
yup, but the CO2 wont be, i put the CO2 on a timer based off the dKH consumption rate of the tank. the Ca reactor is actually a CaOH2 reactor.
nope, runs 24/7 with aatoc. | so yo uwill tune the ca-reactor and not the kalk.. opposit as me.. btw.. what is the aatoc ? -.- Quote:
yup, live phyto in a 2 liter plastic bottle on a dual aquamedic doser along with seachem liquid reef Ca
a quad aquamedic doser will also have seachem liquid reef products ( complete, dKH, plus, trace )
there are many forms of Ca, dosing in this way covers all forms.
also lugols solution, manually
theres more to this system than what meets the eye
karma for your knowledge
| same as me for this part .. just i'll use a 30-40 liter acrylic tube to make the pyto and will use grotech and not seachem to manage it and will put a doso to get phyto to feed the tank so i dont have to do it manually
btw tnx for karma and.. today i was out.. to a coral farm to get some hint and buy some snails and fish at import price preparing the way to seel my future frags |

| Reef-Relief :: Automated Aquatic Top Off Controller
ro/di to the reef relief to the CaOH2 reactor then to sump. with aatoc the salinity stays constant. Quote: |

| the hidden trick to sps is finding out the dkH consumption rate of the tank, keep in mind Ca reactors are actually dkH reactors. after that everything else falls into place, since the Ca reactor is going to make a porpotionate blend of Ca, Mg, dKH. the Ca consumption rate can be tweeked further with dosing liquid supps.
the only thing thats going to be manual on this set up is the lugol solution and changing the filter bags on the drain. the less maintenance the better. i wont have any fish in the frag tank. |

| kk i have also an aatoc now that i know what it is .. hehe..
but i should investigate about the ca reactor driven in dkh way.. now i use a pH probe inside the reactor and put the most Ca i can in water as my corals will drain it.. and i will add the other kind of Ca with liquid Ca grotech has.. and also iodine that will be dosed automatically using a doso-pump and not logul (i fear logul -.-'')
need more info about the way you manage the ca reactor.. |

| Reactor Setup help
my pump runs 24/7, the CO2 is on a timer, pH probe in reactor to show 6.7 pH
